Downing, Mary Barbara (nee Schmitz), Wednesday, June 17, 2020. Dear wife of Michael Downing; dear mother of Molly (Emily) Downing and Maureen Downing; dear sister of Mark (Virginia) Schmitz and twin sister of Steve (Sara) Schmitz; dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend;
"Though now one in heaven, Barb was a true angel on earth. She loved her daughters fiercely, and was loyal to her husband of 36 years. Barb loved to cook, and she was fantastic at it. She enjoyed a good coloring book, and a game of scrabble. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and could chat baseball with the best of them. We will miss her cheese garlic bread and her goofy sense of humor but most of all her genuine kind spirit that will live on in her daughters."

Barbara and I have been friends for 50 years. We kept in touch and weathered our life's storms together. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and was a very loving wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law and aunt. I am going to miss her forever.

I'm so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. We were good friends during grade school. She was such a genuine person always ready to be there and support you as a friend. We always had fun sleepovers too.She had a silly side & just was such an upbeat person.My sincere sympathies to Steve her brother who I knew and her family. May happy memories sustain...
